After a seven-year break, at the first time was held the Ukrainian Cup on basketball among women’s teams. In the Cup final on March 6, 2016 the met “InterСhem-SDUSSHOR named after Litvak” (Odessa) and” Dynamo “(Kiev).
From the start girls from Kiev took the lead, but “InterChem” managed to seize the initiative and to finish the first quarter with the score 32:23 in their favor. However, in the second quarter of Kiev athletes have come full “come back”, equalized before the big break – 45:45. In the third quarter “Dynamo” slightly slowed down, that benefited to the wards of Irina Shchipakina, who went into the lead, which gave a total of 74:56 in favor of Odessa’s basketball. The final ten was held in a bitter struggle, and ultimately the victory “InterChem” was very impressive – 87:68.
A huge contribution to the victory of the Odessa team made Arina Belotserkovskaya, which earned “triple-double”: 23 points, 11 rebounds and 12 assists. 18 points in the asset of Ekatherina Dobrikova, 14 has Svetlana Kolibabchuk and 13 – Natalia Kolotovskaya.
At the awards ceremony our athletes was awarded with commemorative medals and the grand prize – the Cup of Ukraine on basketball among women’s teams. There have also been given prizes in the individual categories. The best quarterback and MVP of the Cup of Ukraine was recognized Arina Belotserkovskaya from Odessa, the best forward – one more representative of the “InterChem” – Ekatherina Dobrikova, best center forward – Elena Teteruk from “Dynamo”.
However Irina Shchipakina and her team have not stopped there, they did not return home, and went to Belarus to conquer the Baltic League. 10 and 11 March in Grodno “InterChem“ twice won the local “Olympia“. (It is interesting to note that the first game was held on the birthday of the president of the Odessa club – Victor Vorozhko and the second one on the birthday of Boris Davidovich Litvak, after whom the team was named). Meanwhile, the Ukrainian Cup have arrived in Odessa after all, where he was showed to basketball fans during the opening ceremony of the international youth tournament in memory of Boris Litvak.
