Ukraine has established its own production of tablets morphine: 300 thousands critically ill patients will have access to the domestic painkillers.
Years of discussions, “round” tables, the activity of medical and public organizations have given results – in mid-May the Cabinet of Ministers approved a decree №333, which greatly simplifies the process of providing painkillers to seriously ill patients. As you know, earlier the procedure of access to hard drugs, such as morphine, which is used as a painkiller injection, was too difficult: the doctor had to write a prescription only after the relevant findings of the commission, and only a doctor can prick the drug.
This is an incredibly complicates the lives of those patients who are living in remote areas, and experiencing daily pain. Because doctors are often simply can not reached in those villages. In addition, only the patient can buy the drug for that he must daily overcome big enough distances. At the same time the effect of the drug, during which it should administer intravenously, does not exceed 4-6 hours. Therefore, experts say: the decree – is an important step towards simplification of life of Ukrainian critically ill patients. After all, in addition to the simplified procedures of the purchase and storage, it eliminates the physicians from the impact of law enforcement.
