Vladimir Groisman: The government is taking measures that will allow Ukrainians to obtain quality drugs at an affordable price
Vladimir Groisman attended the opening ceremony of the third production line of "InterChem" company and held a working meeting with the heads of the leading pharmaceutical companies of Ukraine on the issues of development of the pharmaceutical industry in Ukraine, and providing the citizens with quality, effective and affordable medicines.
The Government intends to deregulation in the pharmaceutical area, which will ensure the reduction of prices for quality drugs in Ukraine and develop the domestic production. This was stated by Prime Minister Vladimir Groisman during a meeting on the problems of development of the domestic pharmaceutical industry at the "InterChem" manufacture-laboratory complex in the Odessa region.
"For the government today is a very important task - we have to take such deregulative things regarding medicines that allow Ukrainian to get quality medicines at a reduced price", - he said.
The Prime Minister noted that there is a considerable margin at today's medicines, which are imported to Ukraine from abroad. "This is unacceptable. This is very important for us that prices in Ukraine will be objectively reduced. We understand how to do it and, most importantly, we will not retreat from this.", - said Vladimir Groisman.
At the same time it is important to develop the domestic production of medicines, he said. "We are ready to be absolute partners as the power that is ready to deregulate, to remove any obstacles, in order to enable you to develop," - the Prime Minister said, addressing the representatives of pharmaceutical companies.
In particular, the government will open the country's pharmaceutical market and enhance its competitiveness, said the head of government. According to him, the development of domestic pharmaceutical companies will provide high quality and low price objective for medicines.
Vladimir Groisman said that the pharmaceutical sphere in Ukraine overregulated significantly, which gave rise to the existence of the shadow flows. "We have to cut them and make a normal European system, in particular in this field," - he said.
"We will do everything to ensure that the competitive engine launched a process that will allow us to grow, and people to get the competitive environment, quality products for the real price, not overpriced as it is today", - said Vladimir Groisman.
As an example, the Prime Minister cited the situation about the purchase medicines through international organizations, which gives from 10 to 90% savings an average 30-70%. "The question is: what has become of this money, from whom it were taken and where it was sent. It's all shady streams, which, unfortunately, the country lost", - he stressed
The government is also ready to support Ukraine's pharmaceutical business and assist to develop our own production and the product, as well as lobby for it on the international markets. In turn, the government expects the understanding of pharmaceutical companies.
The Prime Minister said that he plans to hold a meeting with the heads of pharmaceutical companies, employees and members of the public in the field of medicine over the next working days in Kiev for further discussion of pressing issues.
"The government is set to full and quality health care reform. We will do everything possible to remove any barriers for the development of domestic production of medicines. On the other hand, we will remove barriers to the competitive market.", - said Vladimir Groisman.
As part of his working visit to Odesa region on Tuesday, the Prime Minister attended the opening ceremony of the manufacture-laboratory complex of "InterChem" company. He also familiarized himself with the production capacity of the enterprise.
